SOFTWARE ENGINEER - Immediate Opening
If you're passionate about web-based software development and love building applications from scratch, troubleshooting, and handling challenging coding issues, this position is right for you.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build web software from scratch
- Maintain, expand and improve existing software
- Debug and resolve technical/coding problems
- Plan new software structures and write design documents
- Build internal systems and tools to help our team operate more efficiently
"Absolutely Required" Skills:
- Strong coding skills, and in-depth knowledge of at least a few languages
- Solid knowledge of AJAX and cross-browser compatibility issues
- Strong object-oriented approach to design and coding
- Advanced knowledge of Linux and Linux-based development environments
- Database expertise (MySQL a plus)
- Thorough knowledge and use of refactoring and unit testing
- Solid understanding of computer science concepts (data structures, algorithms, etc.)
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively
- Must be fluent in speaking and writing American English
"Great to Have" Skills:
- Experienced in setting up LAMP type environments
- Apache server experience with the ability to compile and configure Apache.
- Experience with version control systems
- Knowledge of Map Server technology
- Knowledge of GIS technology
Other:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a similar technical degree preferred.
- At least 3 years of engineering/programming work experience.
- Prefer a candidate near the Stow, Ohio area
This is a full-time, contract-to-hire position. Pay rate is based on experience and skill level.

WEB DEVELOPER
The developer we're looking for has the ability to take our designer's files and use them to create fully functional web sites that look nearly identical to the design files. You should be able to code standards-compliant XHTML, CSS and Javascript. In addition to building new sites, you'll be responsible for maintaining existing sites. Here's what else is required in this position:
- Ability to write clean, standards-compliant XHTML, CSS and Javascript code by hand
- Good working knowledge of cross-browser compatibility issues
- Ability to multi-task
- Good time-management skills
- Great verbal communication skills
- PHP skills required
- Solid understanding of internet technologies (HTTP, DNS, TCP, SSH), very familiar with Unix systems, a solid understanding of object-oriented programming and design, and a good background in computer science preferred.
This is a part-time, hourly position with the potential for full-time. Hourly rate is based on experience and skill level.
